Alex Elinson

Alex Elinson is an artisan sculptor and wood carver who has been active in the field since 2010.
Her work spans a variety of high-profile projects in the film industry, including contributions to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Avengers: Infinity War, Prometheus, and many others. She has collaborated with major production companies such as Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Amblin Entertainment, Legendary Entertainment, 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros, and Universal Pictures. Alex has worked alongside some of the world’s top directors, including Ridley Scott, J.J. Abrams, Tim Burton, and Steve Knight. Her portfolio also includes TV commercials for the BBC and UK Radio 1, feature films, Netflix TV productions, and live interactive events, such as crafting a giant inflatable octopus for the London 2012 Olympic Closing Ceremony.
In 2020, Alex completed a postgraduate diploma in historical wood carving and gilding. Since then, she has worked independently on contemporary commissions and as part of a collaborative team under the head woodcarver for London-based artist Yinka Shonibare. Her work for Shonibare involved modeling clay maquettes and hand carving intricate masks, some of which were exhibited at Frieze London, one of the world’s leading contemporary art fairs. Additionally, Alex has extensive experience in art restoration, having worked with Campbells Master Framers and Art Gallery on the restoration of historic frames, some dating back to the 16th century. Her work in this field includes meticulous tasks such as remodelling worn or missing ornate details and water gilding.
Currently, she is working remotely on a commission to design eight gargoyles for a library under construction in Texas.
