Karla Cornwall (b. 1979) is a British abstract expressionistic contemporary artist. She creates intricate, textured work that inspires curiosity and emotion in diverse audiences. Her art blends fashion, sculpture, and experimental materials to celebrate individuality and creative freedom.
Her creative journey began after a traumatic event. Through art, she found healing and renewed purpose. Over 25 years in fashion shaped her artistic vision and her deep love of texture and materiality.
Cornwall is best known for transforming damaged mannequins into woven, abstract sculptures. She uses thread, synthetic wools, denim, and other fabrics to create expressive, tactile forms. Her distinctive techniques challenge traditional craft and push her creativity in new directions.
Her art draws people from all walks of life. Many viewers say, “I have never seen anything like this before.” Cornwall’s work engages the senses and invites personal reflection.
In June–July 2022, she presented her first solo exhibition, “Flow: The Art of Letting Go” in South Kensington, London. The show explored how art can support mental health and emotional healing. Inspired by the response, she now uses her work as a form of art therapy for others.
Cornwall also applies her creativity to collaborative projects and custom design work. She blends fine art and fashion in ways that continue to surprise and engage collectors and art lovers alike.
