Since 1966, Campbell’s of London has hand-crafted mirrors, frames and gilded pieces from our South Kensington studio. A mirror from Campbell’s isn’t cut from a standard sheet and dropped into a catalogue frame. It’s made to your exact size, shape and finish, by the same master framers who work with galleries, museums and private collectors across the city.
Made to Measure, Not Off the Shelf
Every bespoke mirror starts with your space: the wall it’s going on, the light it needs to catch, and the style of the room around it. From there we build the piece around you, choosing the glass, the frame profile and the finish to suit.
Glass options
- Clear mirror: a bright, true reflection for maximum light
- Antiqued and foxed: a softened, aged character with visible patina
- Tinted and smoked: bronze and grey tones for a contemporary look
Frame options
- Hand-carved timber: traditional profiles cut and carved in-house
- Gold and silver leaf gilding: real leaf, laid and toned by hand
- Distressed finishes: for a vintage or reclaimed feel
- Clean and minimal: simple profiles for modern interiors
Shapes and sizes
Round, oval, arched or fully custom shapes are all made in-house, to any size your space calls for. Because we cut and join everything ourselves, an awkward alcove or a non-standard chimney breast is a design question rather than a problem.
The same handmade frame profiles we use for fine art are available for mirrors.
Why Choose Bespoke
A mass-produced mirror is built to fit as many rooms as possible, which usually means it fits none of them particularly well. A bespoke mirror is built for one wall: yours.
Beyond the fit, mirrors do real work in a room. They bounce light into darker corners, make small spaces feel larger, and reflect the art, views or architecture worth a second look. A well-made one, in the right frame, becomes a feature in its own right rather than an afterthought.
Where Our Mirrors Go
- Over a fireplace: proportioned to the chimney breast rather than roughly centred
- In hallways and narrow spaces: to draw light through and add depth
- Above console tables and dressing tables: scaled to the furniture below
- In alcoves and awkward recesses: shaped to fit where standard sizes cannot
- As a full-length feature: floor-standing or wall-fixed
Antique Mirror Restoration
If you already own a mirror that needs attention, we also repair and re-gild antique mirror frames, and can replace damaged or heavily degraded glass while keeping the original frame. See our art and frame restoration service for details.
Our Process
- Consultation. We discuss the room, the wall and the look you’re after, either in-studio or remotely.
- Design. We recommend glass, frame and finish options suited to your space, and share a written quotation.
- Hand-crafting. Your mirror is cut, framed and finished by our craftsmen in South Kensington.
- Collection or delivery. Collect from the studio, or we can arrange delivery.
Cost and Timescales
Cost depends on the size of the mirror, the glass you choose, and the frame profile and finish. A clean contemporary frame in a standard size is a very different job from a hand-carved, gold-leaf gilded piece made to an arched opening, so every mirror is quoted individually.
We confirm a realistic timescale once the design and finish are agreed.
