Description
Christian Holder (1949 – 2025) was a British-Trinidadian artist renowned for his extraordinary talent and multifaceted contributions to the arts. He is celebrated as ‘one of the most iconic dancers of the Joffrey Ballet in the 1970s, perhaps in its history.’
The son of professional dancers Boscoe Holder and Sheila Clarke Holder, Christian’s artistic journey began early when the family moved to London. Holder’s influence extended far beyond dance, encompassing playwriting, directing, and choreography, shaping the cultural landscape in both New York and London. His remarkable career was honored in 2016 with a special event at the Victoria & Albert Museum, reflecting on his legacy as an artist ‘A Life in Performance, New York and London.’
