Christopher Cozier

Christopher Cozier (b. 1959, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago) is a leading contemporary Caribbean artist, curator, and writer. He lives and works in Trinidad & Tobago and co‑directs the influential arts collective Alice Yard.

Cozier’s work spans drawing, printmaking, installation, video, and writing. His art explores Caribbean identity, colonial history, and global cultural narratives.

In 2024, MoMA in New York acquired more than 260 drawings from Cozier’s landmark “Tropical Night” series (2006–2014) for its collection.

That series was showcased in MoMA’s “Jacob Lawrence and Christopher Cozier” exhibition, where his work was presented alongside American modernist Jacob Lawrence.

Cozier’s art reflects his lived experience and travels between Trinidad, the United States, and the wider world. His drawings invite viewers to interpret narrative and history.

His work has been featured in major global exhibitions, including the Havana Biennials, the Brooklyn Museum, and Tate Liverpool.
